Medicinal properties of comfrey

Comfrey roots contain alkaloids (cinoglossin, lysiocarpine), essential oils, tannins, glycosides, starch, gums and other organic additives. Broths and infusions of comfrey have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, astringent, regenerating, enveloping and hemostatic effects. Drugs based on plants are used in digestive disorders, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Decoction and comfrey infusion is used to improve the tone, improve appetite, for the treatment of dysentery, tuberculosis, bronchitis, accompanied by the formation of sputum. Outdoor plant-based remedies are used for arthritis, radiculitis, inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity, for the treatment of purulent wounds and trophic ulcers.
Compresses from gruel fresh comfrey roots are used for thrombophlebitis, bruises and bone fractures. The plant is used in the treatment of cancer of the lung, breast, prostate. The use of comfrey slows down the formation of metastases in bone tissue.

How to apply comfrey

To prepare a decoction from comfrey roots, it is necessary to pour 10 g of raw material with 1 cup of boiling water, put on slow fire for 10 minutes. Then the tool is cooled and filtered. The broth is used externally: make lotions, compresses, washing, used for rinsing.
For external tumors, apply comfrey ointment. For its preparation it is necessary to grind 1 tbsp. fresh roots to the state of gruel, add 1 tbsp. pork fat. Then you need to put the mixture in a water bath for 30 minutes. When the mass has cooled, 5 g of camphor oil is added to it. The resulting agent smears tumors several times a day.
Inside, use the infusion of the root in hot milk. To cook it, you need to pour 10 g of comfrey roots with a glass of milk and put in the oven for 6 hours to evaporate. It is important not to allow the mixture to boil, as the nutrients may collapse.Ready infusion take three times a day and 1 tbsp. a spoon.
Comfrey is a poisonous plant, so it should be used only under the supervision of a physician. Studies have confirmed that long-term use of the plant has a carcinogenic and mutagenic effect. Comfrey is contraindicated in hypotension, during pregnancy and lactation, with individual intolerance.
