How often does the pregnancy stop?

Pregnancy, which specialists in obstetrics and also sometimes referred to as nondeveloping, may occur in the early and late periods of childbearing.

Causes of missed abortion

In fact, missed abortion is the death of the fetus inside the uterus. At the same time, its main difference from miscarriage is that during a non-developing pregnancy, the fetus remains inside the woman’s body, which may entail negative consequences. Therefore, depending on the length of the pregnancy, the dead fetus is removed with the help of medication or surgery.
As a rule, the first suspicions of missed abortion occur in the woman who is carrying the baby. However, the symptoms that can lead to such suspicions vary depending on the duration of the pregnancy. So, if the development of the embryo has stopped in the early stages, the woman’s characteristic symptoms typical for this period disappear: toxicosis, swelling of the mammary glands and the like.If the development of the fetus stopped at a later date, symptoms of this fact may be the appearance of pain in the lower abdomen, the appearance of discharge with blood content and other unusual manifestations that the woman has not observed until this point. In addition, a clear symptom of this pathology is that the child stops moving.
In general, specialists in the field of obstetrics and gynecology are divided into several large groups of the causes of a fading pregnancy. The first one is various dangerous infectious diseases, including rubella, herpes, cytomegalovirus and others. The second group of possible causes is the congenital features of a woman's body, for example, immune or hormonal disorders and genetic abnormalities. Finally, the third group of possible causes of a fading pregnancy is the influence of negative external factors, such as stress, hypothermia, alcohol abuse, and the like.

Frequency of missed abortion

Global statistics in the field of obstetrics and gynecology show that the incidence of such pathology as missed abortion makes up from 10 to 15% of all pregnancies. At the same time, a single occurrence of a missed pregnancy does not necessarily mean that a particular woman has serious problems: according to expert estimates, over 80% of women who have experienced this problem successfully nurture the next pregnancy. However, with the recurrence of this pathology, it can be stated that there are serious reasons that need to be addressed before planning the next pregnancy.
