Since the fish is active, for its stay, purchase an aquarium with a volume of 50–60 l. It is desirable that for one fish accounted for 10 liters of water. Water temperature is 22–24 ° C. Water should be soft and sour. Water hardness is about 18 degrees. Replace 30% of the water for fresh each week. If the aquarium is more than 100 liters, then replace it once a month.

Cover the aquarium, as the fish are active and often jump out.

Place floating plants on the surface of the water. Cover the bottom of the tank with coarse sand. Create a corner with dense thickets where the fish love to hide.However, they need and free space for swimming. Lighting should be dim. Fish unpretentious and eat any food. With pleasure they eat bloodworms and artemia.

Fish breed when they reach 1 year old. To do this, make a couple in a separate aquarium and ensure the following conditions:

  • the bottom of the aquarium cover with dark soil;
  • provide enhanced aeration;
  • temperature rise to 28 ° C;
  • place the aquarium under ambient light;
  • Give in excess of live food, for example, the moth.

Spawning under these conditions occurs in the next 3–6 days.

After laying eggs, the pair are removed from the aquarium so that they do not eat their own offspring. After 2 days, the larvae emerge from the roe, which become fry after a week. Feed them to ciliates 3-4 times a day.

Compatibility of termination with other fish

Being in a flock, they often make small disassembly between each other, however, quickly calm down. It is more important to find the right company for them with other types of aquarium inhabitants.

They are a little aggressive and love to tear off wide and large fins and tails from their veil tails.

Buy 6–8 individuals so that your new tenants feel comfortable in a flock of their own kind.

Keep them separate or buy moving and large fish: danios, cardinals, barbs, black neons. Do not put with them smaller fish that the ternation will terrorize.

Do not live with them cocky cockerels and angelfish. Do not place them with very large and predatory fish: astronotus, cichlozam. With other neighbors, they will easily get along.
