  • several potatoes;

Before serving, you can decorate it with chopped greens.

From millet you can make a delicious porridge according to grandma's recipe. For this you will need:

  • two glasses of millet;
  • 300 g of sauerkraut;
  • carrots and onions;
  • sunflower oil;
  • salt-pepper and spices to taste.

First you need to chop the onions and grate the carrots, fry them in sunflower oil until golden brown. Next, in the pan you need to put ready-made onions and carrots, sauerkraut and pour all the water. All this stews for about half an hour. Millet is added to stewed vegetables and filled with water. It must be remembered that any porridge is boiled in water in a proportion of approximately 1: 2. Boil the millet to a low heat for about half an hour. 10 minutes before readiness everything needs to be salted, pepper, add greens.

Millet Croquettes

Another recipe for cooking millet is croquettes, which can be served as a separate dish, as well as with vegetables or a side dish.

  • two onions;
  • egg;
  • 3 cloves of garlic;
  • white breadcrumbs;
  • sunflower oil;
  • salt and pepper.

First you need to cook the millet. It is necessary to thoroughly rinse it, bring to a boil in a large amount of water, then rinse again through a sieve.The grits prepared in this way must be poured into ready-made broth and cooked over low heat until cooked. Water should boil all, if not - it must be evaporated.

Here you need to remember to salt and pepper grits, then make it a kind of dough, kneading. Now you need to cut the onion, fry it, then add the sliced ​​mushrooms. All this a little put out on low heat. It is also necessary to add finely chopped garlic, as well as a little salt and pepper.

Finely chopped onion is fried in butter with any spices, ground millet is added and the broth is diluted to the desired thickness. The sauce can be served!


If you want to be original, but you don’t know how to cook millet, you can surprise dear people with fruit salad with millet. For this you need to stock up:

  • a glass of millet;
  • sweet pepper in the amount of 1 pc .;
  • half a cucumber;
  • third cup of almond flakes;
  • salt and spices;
  • lemon, orange and mint.

First you need to cook the millet. And there are two ways to cook millet. You can cook it on low heat until fully cooked, and you can pour hot water on it, leave it for half an hour, then drain the remaining water. Ready millet is placed in a salad bowl, add cucumber, chopped peppers, half a cup of finely chopped fresh mint and toasted almond flakes. All this is mixed.
