Review of Sibu Beauty Skincare

Sea buckthorn is a multi-purpose botanical ingredient that offers skin-soothing benefits in addition to medicinal properties. The hippophae rhamnoides plant which grows in central Asia and eastern Europe produces an orange-colored fruit, with pulp and seeds that create a nutrient-packed oil when ground up. Sufferers of skin conditions like eczema and rosacea may find relief in formulas that contain this additive.

I’m currently using a set of skincare with sea buckthorn from .

About the Company

Since 2009, family-owned Sibu Beauty has been creating paraben-free products packed with fair trade sea buckthorn, a naturally-sustainable botanical that’s procured in the wild by Tibetan villagers. The brand bears the Forest Stewardship Council Certification and is labeled all-natural and cruelty-free. The company’s founder, Bruce McMullin gives a portion of profits back through philanthropic efforts, including Sibu Beauty’s Tashi Foundation 404 benefitting people in Tibet.

Manufacturer's Description

According to Sibu Beauty, their magic ingredient is considered nature's most balanced fruit, nicknamed the "Holy Fruit of the Himalayas." More than 130 studies have uncovered the powerful antioxidant benefits of this superfruit, both in skincare and as a dietary supplement. Sibu Beauty claims that sea buckthorn is the world’s only plant that boasts a combo of essential fatty acids 3, 6, 7 and 9 and that its products are suitable for all skin types.

My Thoughts on What I Tried

The sensitive skin on my body and face responded well to this all-natural skincare collection, with a pleasant scent of citrus fruit.

Balancing Facial Cleanser .95 – In spite of its “non-foaming gel formula” this wash gives your skin a squeaky clean finish sans suds, thanks to micro-fine beads that gently scrub away dirt and makeup.

Cleanse & Detox.95 – This soap has a kiss of coconut and palm oils and although it’s marketed for facial use, works great as a bar for body cleansing too. I love the glycerin soap’s grainy texture. Tip: Take it out of your bathroom when not in use, otherwise your shower steam will cause it to “sweat” nonstop.

Exfoliating Scrub .95 – I keep this paste in the shower and use it twice a week or as needed. The creamy formula has a subtle grittiness that gently sloughs away dead skin as it softens.

Purifying Mask .95 – I really liked this beige-tinted purifying mask. Use it for three to 10 minutes for purifying your pores without being too harsh or drying. Try it like me: Once weekly in the shower as you deep-condition your hair.

Clarifying Toner .95 – This refreshing liquid has a rose petal scent and comes in a convenient spray bottle. Mist it directly on your face or a cotton ball.

Hydrating Serum .95 – The serum has a non-oily texture that delivers a powerful dose of hydration and healing. You can use it day and night under your moisturizer or by itself. I like to apply it in my neck and décolletage area to ward off discoloration and wrinkles.

Age Defying Eye Cream .95 – This tiny tube of eye cream can be applied day or night to reduce fine lines, puffiness and darkness.

It’s lightweight and specially formulated for delicate skin in your eye area. It has a cooling sensation on contact and can be worn under makeup without a problem.

Repair & Protect .95 – The weightless day cream is oil-free, but in spite of its name doesn’t offer a built-in SPF shield. Its pump-top, glass dispenser doles out the perfect portion.

Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil .95 – For a concentrated shot of Sibu Beauty’s secret ingredient, apply this 100% certified organic oil to your skin at bedtime as a treatment to remedy chronic skin problems and wipe out wrinkles. A drop did wonders on my dry, chapped lips.

Rejuvenating Night Cream .95 – My favorite product of the lot was this rich-feeling cream that’s soothing and emollient but not the slightest bit greasy. Use a cotton swab – not your fingers – for scooping out a single serving to prevent bacteria buildup in this glass jar container.

Body Cream .95 – Sea buckthorn and meadowfarm are added to shea butter and aloe for an ultra-rich cream that promises to treat a variety of skin ailments from burns to psoriasis. A little goes a long way!
