Prince George's Christening: Royal Family gather for service
Royal Christening Details: Prince George Christened at St. James’s Palace
They are just so, so cute! Little and cutePrince Georgeappeared in public for the second time, just charming everyone with his sweet and awesome look. This time the reason for this was his Christening at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace in London on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. What is specific about the ceremony is the place, since this is the first time that a future king or queen was not Christened at Buckingham Palace. The choice of this place probably has a symbolic sense, because it was here that Princess Diana’s coffin was laid before her funeral.
However, this was not the only first-time feature about the Royal Christening ceremony. The other thing that was different in this case was the principle of choosing the godparents. As it has come by the existing tradition, the godfathers are generally chosen from the royalty of the foreign monarchies and also from the British one. Nevertheless, the seven godfathers of Prince George are the closest people for William and Kate. Thus, they are William’s cousin Zara Tindall; the royal couple’s private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton; a friend from St. Andrews University Oliver Baker; the son of the Duke of Westminster and a family friend Hugh Grosvenor; a close friend of Diana, Princess of Wales Julia Samuel; a childhood friend of William van Cutsem and a college friend of Kate, Emilia Jardine-Paterson.
The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry, as well as the Middleton family were surely present at the important event. During the ceremony, the young prince wore a replica of the Royal Christening Robe, which was handmade by the Queen’s dressmaker Angela Kelly. Kate had a classy and sweet cream ruffled and pleated dress by Alexander McQueen on. Her majesty the Queen wore a traditional variant this time being a baby blue elegant suit-and-skirt pair. This was, in fact, an awesome and impressively organized ceremony, which is still going to be discussed for a considerable period of time.
